The Markwell company was started in New York City in 1919 with markers as their initial product, and had their staplers made for them by the Boston Wire Stitcher Co (Bostitch) until 1994. The company is still in business, but no longer offers desktop staplers. It has a black crinkle paint finish and the base rubber is still intact. Great art deco design with the curved lines going down the front of the base.
